BIOGRAPHY

Mahboob Navab also known as Faye Navab, is an Iranian-American vocalist who migrated from Iran to the United States as a teenager. She has practiced Civil Engineering and has a Master’s Degree in this field, and music has always been her favorite hobby, and activity. She has practiced Persian traditional, and folk music since early 1991, working with most known Iranian musicians in Washington Metropolitan area, as well as some other states, and has performed in numerous social and cultural events since then.

Although for many years Mahboob has performed with variety of musicians playing traditional instruments, such as Tar, Santour (hammer dulcimer), Setar, Daf and Tombak (Persian Drum), she has recently performed with some non-traditional instruments, and musicians playing these instruments, such as keyboard, and stick drum players. She believes music must be diversified to attract all ages and cultures. This also gives her the ability to perform at different occasions and with different musicians. Among hundreds of cultural and social events, Mahboob has performed in many social and cultural events throughout her singing career, as well as performing at memorial services for known musicians, poets, and friends, such as Shahriar Saleh, and Ghogha Khalatbari, by reciting beautiful poems, and singing special songs at these special services.
